The blossoming of an idea...
While watching a 20/20 special on global warming (on Earth Day to be exact) the statistics about chemicals and waste polluting our air, water, and food supply pushed my brain into overdrive. With my two children and the millions of others around the globe set to inherit this planet, I wondered what more I could be doing to make a positive impact on our environment and to be a messenger for change. As a growing family, we try to live our life as earth friendly as possible, but I felt compelled to do more. My husband paused the show and we started talking.
Being in the early days of parenting my second child, dressing her in those practical onesies we parents stock up on, I honed in on clothes for kids as a way to spread an environmental message. What better messengers then the little people who will have to deal with the problems older generations leave behind? We came up with a few slogans, I took to researching as my new middle of the night hobby, and within a few months our earth-friendly garments touting pro environment slogans were born.
As for our company name? Terra means "of the earth" in Latin. This quickly became the perfect match with all we want to accomplish as a company. Our clothing is "of the earth", made with 100% organic cotton, our designs aim to encourage others to care for the Earth, and we donate a portion of all profits to organizations who support our environment, which in turn creates a healthier place for us all to live.
